Black Gold Exclusive Coffees are heavy and winery, floral and tea-like.
THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND
It all started back in 1999 when John Sidney Martin left his job as a Police Officer to open a coffee house with His wife Alvaun. After a successful year, they decided to retail their coffee beans that had become very popular. with their customer.
They called it BLACK GOLD as John coffee is often referred by in the content of Africa the birthplace of coffee and until this day where some of the most exclusive and expensive coffees in the world can be found.
Their coffees took off at the local farmers market where John would go to test out his new blends. After perfecting their signature blend John decided to and approach a locally headquarter grocery store chain called Krogers. He met with their supply diversity officer who informed him that they indeed enjoyed his coffee but currently already had 13 different coffee brands on their shelves and needed to know how his coffee would increase their market and not just split it. This sent John back to the drawing board.
After days of agonizing just how to stand out in a large field of well-established coffee brands, John prayed asked GOD for the solution to what at the time seemed to be a very complex problem. Then one day the answer came from heaven.
At that time all so-called gourmet coffees had been package the exact same way. Because these coffees are considered the best of the best and they many times are needed to be packaged in a bag that would allow the gases from the hot roasted coffee beans to escape because they were often bagged shortly after roasting in order to get it to the market as fresh as possible.
Heaven came through loud and clear. The solution to my problem would be to find a way to set my coffee brand apart from the rest by changing the packaging. It was truly an Aha moment. So John started by first considering the characteristics of his coffees which were smooth and wine-like in nature. That's when it hit him just like Sir Issac Newton when the apple fell from the tree. A wine bottle. His signature blend would need to be somehow packaged in a wine bottle.
